Our project aims to transform Coney Island by fostering a symbiotic relationship between the local community and tourists. We recognize the limitations of relying solely on summer tourism and propose initiatives to enhance resilience and address food desert issues. By repurposing vacant lots and underutilized properties, we can meet the health, social, and educational needs of residents. We seek to redefine Coney Island’s identity beyond its amusement industry by supporting local businesses and celebrating cultural heritage. Our manifesto focuses on creating connections, diversifying the economy, revitalizing infrastructure, and nurturing community identity through urban design and community involvement. Ultimately, we envision Coney Island as a welcoming, inspiring, and empowering place for everyone.
