The Incheon Regional Courthouse Northern Branch, set to grace the landscape of Incheon’s Geomdan New Town, underwent a design competition driven by a visionary agenda. This agenda sought to manifest an architecturally pleasing courthouse exterior that would resonate with the citizens, coupled with an openness that facilitates one-stop services. In response, Heerim envisioned a ‘Courtroom Illuminated by Light,’ seamlessly blending with the vibrant spirit of Geomdan New Town.
Crafting a courthouse that serves as a dynamic hub for community interaction, redefines court lighting, and opens up public spaces became the focal point of our three-pronged strategy. The aim was to establish a courthouse that not only communicates with the local residents but also embodies a sense of balance and transparency, fostering trust. The proposal garnered high praise, securing the successful bid.
Our emphasis on connectivity extended to integrating the open plaza on the right with the public pedestrian pathway on the left, all converging around the entrance plaza for enhanced community engagement. To address the challenge of natural lighting within the courthouse, we introduced a system that bathes the interior spaces in light, creating a serene and welcoming atmosphere.
