Seongsu-dong, once a landscape dominated by factories, underwent a remarkable transformation in 2019. The spotlight shifted towards urban regeneration and renovation projects, with the allure of low-cost, yet spacious, old facilities capturing the imaginations of social enterprises. This pivotal shift laid the foundation for Seongsu-dong's evolution into a thriving Social Venture Valley.
However, as the entrepreneurial spirit of the district soared, a conundrum emerged. Despite Heyground standing as the largest coworking center in Seongsu-dong, its physical constraints posed a challenge for expanding social enterprises. Growth often translated into departure from Seongsu-dong due to a lack of collaborative spaces suitable for large-scale companies with over 100 people. It is in response to this need that the 'Social Venture Headquarters' —a meticulously crafted design plan envisioning a collaborative haven for expansive social ventures. This initiative not only seeks to address the spatial challenges but also aims to anchor unicorn companies within Seongsu-dong's vibrant landscape, nurturing dreams akin to Seoul's very own Silicon Valley. Beyond a mere office space, this project symbolizes a narrative of ambition, innovation, and a harmonious blend of Seongsu-dong's industrial past and entrepreneurial future.
